Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp was left fuming after his club’s dramatic 3-4 defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarterfinal on Sunday, March 17. Speaking in a post-match interview, Klopp appeared to take exception, as a reporter questioned on his team’s intensity.
When asked by an interviewer from the Nordic channel V Sport, that “intensity is the name of your game, so how come it became so difficult in extra-time,” Klopp was left fuming as he replied, “It’s a bit of a stupid question.”
“If you see us often, you can ask us the other times why we have so much energy. I don’t know how many games we’ve had recently and how many Manchester United have had. This is sport. I am very disappointed by that question, but you thought it was wise,” Klopp further added at the post-match interview.
The Liverpool manager, who looked visibly irked, ended the discussion when the interviewer moved to a different topic. Klopp was quick to cut the presenter and said, “Oh, you don’t think that? Ah, come on, you’re obviously not in good shape and I have no words for you.”
Talking about the match, which was played at the Old Trafford, it was nothing short a rollercoaster ride of emotions. However, both teams showcased their fighting spirit, but the 121st minute winner from Amad Diallo helped the United seal the game. The Erik ten Hag managed team will now face Coventry City in the semifinal of the FA Cup on April 20.
