The FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar has shown how small margins which can leave a decisive impact in football. Often the difference between a win or a defeat hasn't been very drastic but passages of play in which one team has dominated the other or a certain run of play where an otherwise good team has let the opposition dictate terms.

The Group A match between Ecuador and Senegal too had its own ebbs and flows. While both teams were heading towards a goalless first half, it was a no-look penalty from Ismaila Sarr who helped Senegal  head into half-time leading 1-0.

In the second half, Ecuador's Moises Caicedo did score to draw parity but the joy was rather short-lived for all Ecuadorian supporters as Senegal once again managed to edge out their opponent, this time with the help of a goal from Kalidou Koulibaly.

Koulibaly managed to help the African Cup of Nations Champions regain the lead within 3 minutes of them conceding.
