New Zealand captain Kane Williamson joked around with Sri Lankan veteran Angelo Mathews and reminded him about his helmet as he came out to bat in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Williamson with this remark, referred to Mathew's historic timed-out dismissal in the previous game against Bangladesh.

Bowling first, the Kiwis put forth an incredible bowling effort as they bundled out the Lankans at a score of 172. But at the start of the innings, the Blackcaps dominated the 1992 champions by running through their top order which brought out Angelo Mathews early.
Here Williamson seemingly said, "Got yourself a sturdy lid, mate? Strap intact?" to Mathews as the commentators also broke out in laughter. The light-hearted exchange swiftly soon went viral on social media as Angelo and Kane shared a laugh.

Coming back to New Zealand's bowling attack, Boult was the star with his spell of 3-37 in 10 overs. Talking about this performance, Boult said, "Good work done. Wicket was probably a little different to what we thought. Half the job done, confident we can go out and chase it."
"Little slower than we thought, there might be dew later and might come on to the bat a bit better. Always a learning curve coming to this part of the world. It's been great batting conditions but as a collective group, I think we've done great. We're looking to peak at the right time and go all the way."
