While India and England are facing each other in the fifth rescheduled Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Kevin Pietersen and Ravi Shastri created another India-England rivalry at the nets of Edgbaston. The veterans of the two teams faced each other while trying to teach how to play spin.

During India’s second innings, Shastri and Pietersen paired up at the nets and demonstrated how to play spin. While Shastri bowled off-spin, Pietersen played his shots and revealed how he always looked to score runs. "I'm looking for the length and I'm making sure that every single shot is actually a run-making shot,” said Pietersen to Nasser Hussain while explaining his shots.

England chasing 378

Coming to the match, India were bowled out for 245 in their second innings. Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara played handy knocks of 57 and 66 to help India extend their lead over England to 377 runs. India were seven wickets down before lunch and were eyeing a lead of 400. But England captain Ben Stokes took the last three wickets to bundle India on 245.

Meanwhile, England started the chase on a high as their openers stitched a century partnership. Zak Crawley and Alex Lees played the Bazball brand of cricket and scored runs at a quick rate. However, captain Jasprit Bumrah drew the first blood for India as he cleaned up Zak Crawley. The second breakthrough came in the form of a runout when Mohammed Shami got rid of Alex Lees.

Shortly after Lees’ wicket, Bumrah once again got rid of Ollie Pope. The right-arm quick got Pope caught behind. However, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow are keeping India devoid of a wicket and are slowly cruising towards a half-century partnership. England still need over 200 runs to win the fifth rescheduled Test and level the five-match Test series which India are leading 2-1.
