The Match 51 of the Indian Premier League 2022 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been an interesting affair so far. Both the teams were coming into this fixture with a loss in their last outing and needed a crucial win under their belt.
In a chase of 208, SRH had a bad start with openers Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson perished early with a single-digit contribution. The team could manage to score around 35 in the powerplay overs, and Rahul Tripathi also got dismissed in the 7th over.
Then the duo of Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram again came at a rescue for the team. They started the innings cautiously, but when they set their eyes and a fine knowledge of the pitch, they scored at a sublime rate, with Markram being the initial aggressor.
After hitting two consecutive sixes off Kuldeep Yadav, the Protea batter was looking at his finest of a touch. However, Khaleel Ahmed had other plans. After getting hit for a boundary on the first ball, Khaleel was smashed on his shoulder, around the collar bone by Pooran on the fourth ball, which left Ahmed in pain. The physio arrived on the field as well, but it was all fine and the play resumed once again.
In the very next ball, Ahmed delivered a ball at the off-side, which had a bigger boundary. The Protea batter tried to hit a maximum on the long-off area. But it was a failed attempt as he was caught near the boundary line by Kuldeep Yadav, and the crucial partnership was broken. The left-arm pacer jumped in the air and was pumped up with his animatic celebration.
Earlier Capitals posted a strong score on the back of 92* from David Warner and 67* from Rovman Powell. Both the players were terrific with their hitting capabilities on a flat surface. The most successful bowler for SRH was Bhuvneshwar Kumar with figures of 1/25 off four overs.
