Rajasthan Royals are currently taking on Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in the match 26 of this year’s IPL. After LSG put up a below par total of 154/7 on the board, RR started the run chase brilliantly with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler in complete control.

On the second ball of the 11th over, Amit Mishra bowled a full delivery just outside the off stump to Jos Buttler, who tried to reverse sweep the ball but got hit on the pad. He was given not out by the umpire and proceeded to take a leg bye as the ball went towards the short fine leg region. The fielder at short fine leg was alert to the situation and threw the ball towards the non-striker end. In the meantime, Buttler had completed the leg bye and the ball was stopped by the fielder at long off.

The long off fielder was causal in returning the ball back into play and inadvertently hit KL Rahul, the captain of the LSG team, in the elbow . The Lucknow opener tried to get out of the ball’s way but he couldn’t do so in time.

Immediately afterwards, he was clutching at his elbow and seemed in quite a lot of pain. The LSG physio was on the field very quickly as the fellow teammates of KL Rahul gathered around him to help ease his pain.

During the post match chat, the victorious Lucknow captain KL Rahul briefly remarked about getting hit on the elbow by his own teammate, “I got hit by a throw by one of my teammates, so I am maybe doing something wrong as a captain (chuckles).”
