KL Rahul, the Indian cricketing superstar, announced his arrival in England in style with a well compiled fifty in the second unofficial Test match for India A against England Lions at the County Ground in Northampton. The 33-year-old went past his half-century in 102 balls after collecting a two on the bowling of George Hill during the second session on day one of the contest just after India A had lost three wickets, including the big one of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

After being put into bat first by England Lions captain James Rew under overcast conditions, Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to open the batting with KL Rahul, and they shared a 28-run stand for the first wicket in the first innings of India A. Chris Woakes trapped Yashasvi Jaiswal lbw in front of the stumps on 17 runs in 26 balls in the first hour of the contest, and shortly after, India A captain Abhimany Easwaran met the same fate with just 11 runs to his name in 13 balls.

It led to an impressive 86-run stand for the third wicket between KL Rahul and Karun Nair, playing well within themselves in tough batting conditions while collecting runs on any loose deliveries. While Karun Nair became the third victim to get trapped lbw on the bowling of Chris Woakes, he had scored 40 runs in 71 balls with four fours, following which KL Rahul reached the milestone moment.
