Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav got hit by a ball on the nose moments before the Asia Cup 2023 final. Yadav, who is India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament, was sitting in the Indian dugout along with a few other members of the team when the accident took place. Notably, India will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the final of the continental showpiece on September 17, Sunday, in Colombo.

The reigning champions won the toss and opted to bat first; however, moments before the start, it started drizzling as the covers were brought on. After the rain stopped, the Indian team was warming up near the dugout area, where Yadav was sitting with the team members. However, just when the match was about to start Yadav got hit by the ball on his nose, leaving him in pain.

In what turned out to be a lopsided game, India went on to lift their eighth Asia Cup title by beating their rivals by 10 wickets. Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj went on to pick six wickets, which changed the entire course of the match, and gave India their Asia Cup victory after five years.
