After suffering a 1-2 defeat in the three-match T20I series, Temba Bavuma-led South Africa are playing three ODIs against India, with the first match being played on currently. Shikhar Dhawan-led India won the toss and opted to field first. The bowlers did a good job early in the innings but half-centuries from David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen propelled South Africa to a decent 249/4 in their 40 overs.

Meanwhile, for India, Shardul Thakur (2/35) and Kuldeep Yadav (1/39) did a terrific job with the ball. While Thakur drew the first blood by dismissing Janeman Malan and dismissed Temba Bavuma for his second wicket, Kuldeep Yadav got the big wicket of Aiden Markram. The Chinaman bowler sneaked through Markram’s defence to castle his stumps.

Throughout the innings, Yadav looked in good rhythm as he bowled in the right areas and contained the flow of runs. As the spinner was on top of the South African batters, he tried to get under their skin by sledging David Miller. After bowling a ripper against the southpaw, Yadav was seen chirping something while the batter reached the non-striker’s end.

Although Yadav tried to play a bit with Miller, the Proteas batter did not stutter as he continued scoring runs for his team. Miller continued his form from the T20I series and scored a terrific half-century (75* off 63 balls). He was well-aided by Klaasen who scored 74* off 65 balls.
