Argentina manager Luis Scaloni was utterly speechless and in shock as Ariel Montiel scored the winning penalty to beat France in FIFA World Cup 2022 final in Qatar. The Summit Clash saw six amazing goals followed by a thrilling penalty shootout where the La Albiceleste lifted the elusive trophy after 36 years. Scaloni now has won his third consecutive final with the Argentine team as they won the 2021 Copa America, the Finalissima and the World Cup in 2022. 


Luis Scaloni had his eyes set on the final spot kick and as Montiel slotted the ball in, he was in awe before getting teary-eyed as an assistant coach hugged him. Scaloni, couldn’t control his tears and touched the ground and prayed to the almighty for the historic victory. Then midfielder Leandro Paredes embraced Scaloni as the pair continued to celebrate this emotional moment.

During the press conference after the final, Luis Scaloni was seen talking about possibly keeping the number 10 jersey ready if Lionel Messi wanted to play in the 2026 World Cup. Scaloni then talked about the impact of Messi on the team and stated that the Golden Ball winner has the right to whatever he wants in his career. 


“I think we should keep the number 10 jersey prepared for the next World Cup if he (Messi) feels like playing,” Scaloni told a news conference. “He earned the right to do whatever he wants with his career. What he transmits to his teammates is incredible. I have never seen such an influential person in the changing room.”
