The M.A. Chidambaram stadium hosting the first Qualifier between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings erupted in joy as CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But unfortunately for the Chennai fans, Dhoni failed to fire and leading to an immediate silence.
After losing the toss, the four-time champions were put into bat and got off to an incredible start thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad. But a struggling Devon Conway held the team as they couldn't explode like in other games. Despite, Gaikwad's 60, CSK failed to score a lot of runs, and further, after his dismissal the scoring dropped significantly.
Hence with Dhoni's arrival in the 19th over, CSK supporters hoped that Captain Cool will hit some massive sixes and carry the team to a competitive score. But, unfortunately, Dhoni's innings lasted for just two balls before falling prey to Mohit Sharma's slower ball, causing absolute silence in the stadium.

After Dhoni's wicket, CSK scored 15 runs taking their total to 172. For Gujarat Titans, Mohit Sharma was one of the top bowlers as picked up two wickets while giving away 31 runs. Reacting to this performance, Sharma said, "The ball is sticking onto the surface, there was a bit of moisture early on which made the ball stop. "
"This is a good score on this surface and we'll have to bat well to chase it down. The pitch is slightly sticky, need to concentrate on ones and twos. I wanted to drag the length back and not give them room to play shots. There is no dew at all."
