India and Australia are locking horns in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first day of the ongoing Test, which is being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium (Nagpur) did not have the best of the starts for the visitors. While Siraj dismissed opener Usman Khawaja on the first delivery of the match, Shami scalped the second wicket, reducing the Aussies for 2/2.

After Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne steadied the Australia inning, there was a lot of drama in the middle. While Siraj and Marnus engaged in a heated exchange, the Aussie batter continued to gesture at the other Indian bowlers.

The other one came against Indian all-rounder R Ashwin. In the 22nd over of the Australia inning, Marnus actioned towards Ashwin, who was called into the attack. The 36-year-old kept quiet but as he bowled the final delivery of the over, he gave a befitting reply to the Aussie mainstay, conceding only two runs in that particular over.

On the back of Marnus Labuschagne’s unbeaten 47 and Steve Smith’s 74-ball 19, Australia have scored 72 runs at the loss of two wickets at Lunch on Day 1 of the 1 st  Test. Shami and Siraj are the only Indian bowlers who have been in the wickets so far in the match.
