Australian bowler Mitchell Starc hit Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant with a brutal throw in the second Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 match. Notably, the second Test of the elite five-series competition kicked off on Friday, December 6 at the Adelaide Oval. The game saw Indian skipper Rohit Sharma winning the toss, and inviting the hosts to field first. The decision of putting score on the board proved wrong for the visiting side as the Pat Cummins’-led bowling unit bundled out their rivals at a below par score of 180 runs.
Earlier on day one of the game, Indian wicket-keeper batter got hit by Mitchell Starc’s throw before getting dismissed off a Pat Cummins delivery. Pant looked in decent touch, playing some good shots in the innings, and once again it seemed that he would bail his team out in times of need. However, the batter got hit by a brutal throw by Mitchell Starc just before a Pat Cummins delivery got him out.

Ahead of the delivery that forced the batter to walk back to the pavilion, he got hit with a brutal throw by Mitchell Starc. The incident took place on the third ball of the 33rd over when Pant was batting alongside Nitish Kumar Reddy. As Reddy called for a quick single, Pant was hit a by the ball as the Aussie pacer aimed to throw the stumps down.
The Indian batter, who had scored just 21 runs, was a bit shook after getting hit, but immediately brushed off the incident with a smile. It was followed by Starc apologising to him for the throw. However, the Indian batter was dismissed on the very next ball as Pat Cummins bowled a delivery at 143.5 kmph.
