T eam India registered a 2-run win over Ireland on Friday, August 18 at The Village in Dublin. The stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the day as he finished with the figures of 2/24 in his four-over spell. It was also Bumrah’s first win as skipper of the side in T20I cricket.

On Friday, Team India won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. The Paul Stirling-led side posted 139/7 in their 20 overs with Barry McCarthy top-scoring for his side with an unbeaten 51 knock. However, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s opening stand which led  the side to post 47/2 inside the powerplay before rain interrupted the play.

However, with both the Indian batters at the crease, the two were part of a terrible mix up in the early overs itself. On the third delivery of the second over bowled by Joshua Little, the ball lobbed off Jaiswal’s thigh pad towards short fine leg. As the ball went, the two opted for a single but Gaikwad stopped midway and returned to his place at the non-striker’s end. With the Ireland fielder attempting for a direct hit, he missed the stumps as the ball went at mid-off region, with the Indian opening pair surviving an early jolt.
