Mumbai Indians are looking like a team on a mission. While they need to do the unimaginable to secure a place in the Playoffs and whether they manage to achieve that is a different story, there is no lack of intent from the five-time champions. After the much-awaited toss went in their favour, the Rohit Sharma-led side opted to bat first and went out all guns blazing.

So amazing was the opening stand that Rohit and Ishan Kishan added 80 runs inside the powerplay before the Hitman was ultimately dismissed. While it was SunRisers Hyderabad's Rashid Khan who broke the partnership, it took an equally superb effort in the field by Mohammad Nabi to hold on to the catch to give the Hyderabad team something to cheer about.

In the third ball of the sixth over, the Mumbai Indians opener looked to play a paddle shot over the square leg but could not connect from the middle of the bat. As the ball took the leading edge, it seemed that the ball would fall teasingly out of reach of the square leg fielder who was inside the ring. However, Nabi who was stationed there covered good ground running back and comfortably completed the catch to break the partnership.

Watch the effort from Nabi here:

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan has carried the form he found at the top of the order through his innings against Rajasthan Royals into this game and smashed a half-century off just 16 balls- the fastest in IPL 2021. As a result, Mumbai scored 83 runs for 1 wicket in the powerplay and breached the 100-run mark in the 8th over.

Notably, Mumbai Indians need to win this fixture by over 170 runs to sneak into the Playoffs. This is because while a win would be enough to get them at the points as Kolkata Knight Riders, only a massive win of that margin or more would help their net run rate surpass the Eoin Morgan-led side.

SunRisers are playing this match without two of their key players- Kane Williamson and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, in their place Manish Pandey and Mohammad Nabi have been drafted into the XI. Manish is leading the Orange Army in this match.
