16 August, 2021- A Test fifty against England and that too at the Lord's, Mohammad Shami will remember this day for ages and why should he not? He has done something close to a miracle. He has saved India on many occasions with the ball in his hand but this time he has set high standards with the bat. Shami and Bumrah put India in the driver's seat with a brilliant partnership at the fag end of the innings.
Mohammad Shami batted sensibly throughout his innings and played some good looking shots. He even got to his fifty in style with two consecutive boundaries off Moeen Ali. He first hit Ali for a four in the long on region and on the very next ball, he stepped out and hit a monstrous six over deep midwicket to complete his half century.

Bumrah and Shami rescue India
After ending on 181/6 on the fourth day, India walked out with an aim to get a 200-run lead. They hoped to find their savior in Rishabh Pant, who did stick around for a while but couldn't continue for long. Ishant Sharma too departed in quick succession. With only 182-run lead in hand, India had their hopes on Shami and Bumrah and they delivered.
They didn't just stand in the middle but rather scored some valuable runs for their team. Amid verbal tension between both team's players, the pair continued their resistance. Shami seems to have a love affair with the English soil as he got to his second Test half century in England. He played like a top-order batsman and secured some crucial runs. India will now back themselves to bowl out England quickly and take 1-0 lead in the series.
