Despite the rain playing spoilsport in two of the first five days of the ongoing World Test Championship final, the mega encounter between India and New Zealand has so far lived up to the expectations of the fans. After the play on Day 4 got completely washed out due to the persistent rain in Southampton past Monday, the teams came out with extra energy in the following day of the game.

The hunger for wickets in the Indian bowlers was quite evident as each one of them bowled his heart out on the ground to avoid New Zealand from getting an edge over the number 2 Test side in the grand finale. The Kiwis started the day at 101/2, trailing by mere 116 runs with 8 wickets in hand. However, the Indian pacers didn't lose heart and kept it tight in the first session.

The pressure saw New Zealand losing three wickets in quick succession, two of which were claimed by Mohammed Shami. While the seamer  trapped Ross Taylor with a brilliant planning at short cover, he produced an absolute ripper to send BJ Watling back to the pavilion. Shami bowled the wicketkeeper on the middle-stump line with a pace of 141 kmph and just when Watling could defend the ball after getting in the line of the delivery, the ball swung towards outside and disturbed the batsman's stumps with a crunching sound.

Here is the video:

The sensational video of the special delivery from Shami is now doing rounds on social media with fans praising the art of the pacer.

India bounce back on Day 5

Team India, who were a bit behind in the game at the start of Day 5, bounced back  beautifully to bundle New Zealand out for 249. The Kiwis for once were looking to get a big score but had to settle down for a slender lead of 32 runs, courtesy Shami's 4/76, Ishant Sharma's 3/25 and Ravichandran Ashwin's 2/28. It is worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah has remained wicketless so far in the game despite bowling 26 overs. By the end of the day, India were 64/2 with Rohit Sharma (30) and Shubman Gill (8) back to the hut.
