After India saw their Asia Cup 2023 tournament opener wash out with rain coming into play, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India are currently playing Nepal at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. While the Men in Blue won the toss and invited the Rohit Paudel-led side to bat first, the early inning saw some heat up moment.
In the sixth over of the Nepal inning, Mohammed Siraj who came into the attack, bowled a 147kph delivery. Opener Kushal Bhurtel, who was on strike pulled off the bat a little late with the ball going head-high for the batter. As this delivery saw Siraj get a little bit frustrated after being smashed for a boundary and a maximum on previous two deliveries, gave a death stare to the batter on this delivery.
The Nepal batter gave a head start to the innings, helping the side reach 42 runs in the eight overs after surviving three drop catches.
Kushal Bhurtel became the third batsman to complete 1000 runs for Nepal in ODIs. Additionally, the Aasif Sheikh-Kushal Bhurtel pair became first to record 1000-plus runs partnership for Nepal team in ODIs.
