With the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) just round the corner, fans and cricket enthusiasts will once again see legendary Indian cricketer, MS Dhoni back on the field. The 43-year-old, who guided Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five IPL titles, will aim to get one more under his belt as he nears his career end with speculations around the upcoming edition being his last going rife for long now.
However, it will be known as the season progresses, on Tuesday, March 18, the wicketkeeper-batter was seen bringing his A-game on the front during CSK’s practice session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It is to be noted that MS Dhoni was retained by the Yellow Army ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction as an uncapped player with a price tag of INR 4 Crore.
MS Dhoni hits Matheesha Pathirana for a six with his trademark helicopter shot
As the 43-year-old took the field in a training session, he looked in great touch ahead of IPL 2025. The former CSK skipper pulled off his vintage helicopter shot against right-arm speedster Matheesha Pathirana at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The veteran keeper-batter hammered Pathirana’s miscued yorker for a six, with the ball flying over the bowler’s head.

CSK are set to begin their IPL 2025 campaign with a match against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in the third match of the season at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 23. After two back-to-back matches in Chennai, CSK will play their first away match of the season against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30. They will end their league campaign with a match against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 18.
