After reaching Dubai on August 13, Chennai Super Kings have completed their mandatory quarantine period. The Yellow Army returned on the field on Friday to kick off their preparations for second leg of IPL 2021. The training session took place at ICC Academy and all the senior members of the side in form of Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa and MS Dhoni sweated it out in hot weather.
The franchise shared the footage from Day 1 of their training session in UAE which had some really interesting moments. Robin Uthappa was captured donning his new hairstyle with a tinge of red colour, which certainly caught everyone's attention. He was also involved in a fun discussion with Deepak Chahar as the duo were seen sharing a hearty laugh.
Dhoni steals the show with his huge hits
As expected, CSK captain MS Dhoni was the star of the show on first day of practice. While the footage showed Suresh Raina and other batsmen having a good time in the nets, it was Thala who was making his intentions very clear ahead of the resumption of IPL 2021.
In one of the shots, the 40-year-old stepped out of the crease and smashed a rocket-shot straight down the wicket. Dhoni showed all variety of shots during his nets session on Friday as he smoked a huge hit down the leg side off a fast delivery. A classic case of stand and deliver from MS!
However, it was the third shot that brought back the nostalgia for all the Mahi fans. Facing spin, the right-handed batsman took a few steps ahead and sent the ball straight over the long-on boundary for a monstrous six.

Can MS Dhoni replicate this form in the tournament?
Having played no cricket since the suspension of IPL 2021 few months back, MS Dhoni certainly had an impressive outing with the bat on Friday. The CSK skipper did not have a great time in the first half of the season as he could only manage 37 runs in 7 matches. As the league enters the second phase, it will be interesting to see if Dhoni can produce some moments of magic in UAE. If early signs are to be believed, bowlers will certainly need to beware of some helicopters off Mahi's bat.
