Few weeks from now Indian Premier League will take the centre stage with yet another highly competitive edition. While few marquee players are currently busy with international commitments, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has started his preparation for IPL 2023, which is likely to be his last season.

The 41-year-old is expected to appear as a player for the last time and that possibility has made the upcoming season more interesting than ever. Dhoni is regarded as one of the most successful captains in the history of the league and with unprecedented fan base all over the country, Dhoni will surely attract a lot of traction. Meanwhile, a fresh video has been shared by the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings on Instagram, where ‘Thala’ was seen hitting the balls hard at nets. “Our Friday feeling is surely unmatched,” CSK captioned the video.

Earlier, Dhoni received a warm welcome in Chennai’s hotel when he arrived there for training ahead of IPL 2023. The video of the same was shared by the IPL franchise as Dhoni was seen getting warm welcome from the staff. Apart from Dhoni, CSK players like Ambati Rayudu, Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, all-rounder Shivam Dube also reached Chennai to resume their rigorous training ahead of the highly anticipated season.

Speaking of CSK’s IPL 2022 season, former champions had a horrific time in previous edition as the franchise ended in the bottom of charts. CSK started the season on a surprising note as Dhoni stepped down from captaincy and handed over to Ravindra Jadeja, but series of unlikely results and massive dip in Jadeja’s performance forced the franchise to let Dhoni take over the captaincy.

According to reports, Dhoni might play his last IPL as a player but may continue with the franchise in different capacity in successive seasons. Chennai Super Kings will play Gujarat Titans in the opening match on March 31.
