Luciano Spalletti has been a hero for Napoli as he led the side to its first Serie A title in 33 years. The Italian manager recently announced that he will leave the Serie A champions as he needs some rest and will not work at any club for at least a year. The Serie A winning-manager received a surprising and hilarious gift from the Napoli ultras, who presented him with stolen items from his car.
After the title win, thousands of fans flocked to the streets and hailed Spalleti, who won the Serie A manager of the season award, as one of the essential people in their success. The 64-year-old hasn’t always been so popular among the Napoli faithful as back in October 2021 some supporters broke into his FIAT Panda and stole his steering wheel and some CDs.
The thieves had written, "We'll give it back to you, all you have to do is leave." The thieves fulfilled their promise as they presented the stolen items back to the departing coach at the club’s training ground. In a wholesome moment, Spalletti wholeheartedly accepted the gesture and had a laugh with the ultras.
Spalletti will leave Napoli after a successful spell at the club and will take a one-year hiatus as he wants to spend some time with his daughter. The Italian leaves after 96 matches in charge for Napoli with 2.1 points per game. Meanwhile, Napoli are hunting for their new manager with former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique and Marcelino Garcia at the top of the list for President Aurelio de Laurentiis.
