The Asia Cup 2023 has reached the Super Four stage and in the first match of the crucial stage, Pakistan are locking horns with Bangladesh at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. While Pakistan were the first team to seal the Super 4s berth, Bangladesh were assured to have qualified for the last four after Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan in a neck-and-neck match on Tuesday, September 5.
But in the seventh over of the Bangladesh inning, pacer Naseem Shah sustained a horrific injury as he lay on the field near the boundary rope still. This incident happened on the second delivery of the seventh over when Shah sprinted from fine leg and slid to his left in order to save the boundary.
However, he failed to save the runs for his team, seemed like he injured his right shoulder in the process after his left side brushed the rope. Although her lay long in that position, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan rushed to check on him and called the physio. Later on, Shah walked off the field as the match resumed with Pakistan calling in Mohammad Haris as a sub-fielder.
Talking about the match, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the Bangla Tigers did not have the start they were expected to have as their top order departed at the score of 47 with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris - all being among the wickets.
