Fortunes have dramatically turned around for defending champions Dabang Delhi. The team that won their first five games with sheer ease is now searching for their sixth win in the last five matches. It is just not coming together for the Naveen Kumar-led team even though the captain is trying hard. The pain of consecutive defeats despite all the efforts reflected in Naveen’s voice when he addressed the press conference after defeat to Puneri Paltans.

Although Delhi is in the third position on the points table, five consecutive losses have severely dented their playoff chances. It would be a shame that defending champions fail to qualify for the knockout stages and Naveen Kumar knows that. The Delhi captain is doing everything in his control to bring that for the team but it’s just not happening. And the pain went beyond Kumar’s threshold when he was asked about the reason behind it.

Naveen sounded helpless when he said “samajh nhi aa raha humein bhi, ho kaya raha hai” with a wry smile on his face. He then went on to explain that the team is doing everything right but it’s just not happening for them. “We are not able to get the rhythm back we had at the start of the tournament. We are practising well, there is no pressure from the coach sir and everyone has a fresh mind. On the mat, I can’t do everything. I am motivating enough and there is no pressure but still, the desired results are not coming.”

The Dabang Delhi coach then took over from Kumar saying that the captain is doing almost everything. He is pulling off super tackles and getting in points when there are five defenders in the opposition camp. “He has three points while defending while our main defenders are struggling to get even one point,” said Krishan Kumar Hooda.
