actress Nora Fatehi has been trolled for holding the Indian flag upside down on the sidelines of the FIFA World Cup 2022. In a fan fest, Nora performed on the stage and also grooved
to the "Light The Sky" anthem of the tournament at Al Bidda Park in Doha.
After the
performance, Nora waved the Indian flag and chanted Jai Hind, while she was
interacting with the fans on the stage. In response, the audience cheered and
chanted Jai Hind as well. Nora reckoned that although India are now part of the
world tournament, but is still present in spirit with music and dance.
"India is
not a part of the FIFA World Cup, but we are now, in spirit. Through our music,
through our dance.”
Although the renowned star initially waved the flag upright, she held the flag inverted on the second occasion. The netizens were quick to point out the fact, and the video went viral, resulting in Nora receiving widespread criticism.
One of the users
on social media reckoned that "Omg no respect for flag this is so bad
acting and performing is not everything look at the way they are throwing the
flag so disrespectful." Another one commented, "Respect the flag..Why she is
representing India."
Nora attended the FIFA World Cup 2022 match between Portugal and Brazil. She shared her clip of witnessing the action from the stands with her friend, Steven Roy Thomas. Interestingly, she expressed her excitement in the clip, when her Light The Sky played during the game.
