The Australian Test cricket team went through a lot in the past year. Their captain Tim Paine had to step down after he was involved in a sexting scandal. Pat Cummins took over the captaincy reins in red-ball format but tension grew inside the dressing room as players objected to Justin Langer’s style of coaching. Many found Langer too assertive and felt not-so-good around him.
The Australian cricket board listened to players’ complaints and Justin Langer was offered only a six-month contract extension. The former Australia captain did not like it and decided to give up his coaching job. Andrew McDonald took over and formed a good relationship with Cummins and other players as Australia scripted history on other tours.
This is the story known to a layman. But what exactly transpired was not known to many. However, Australian cricket fans will get to know the details of the events that took place inside the dressing room that led to Tim Paine’s resignation as well as Justin Langer’s fallout.
The second season of The Test, a documentary series giving a sneak peek into behind-the-scenes of events in the Australian Test team, will be soon released. The makers of the series released the official trailer for The Test Season Two on Tuesday. The two-minute-long video shows how players reacted to Paine’s involvement in a sexting scandal. It then talks about players’ fallout with Langer and a new era of Australian Test cricket under Cummins and McDonald.
The Test Season Two is produced by Amazon Studios in collaboration with Cricket Australia and Whooshka Media. The producers are Mish Armstrong, Adrian Brown, and Richard Ostroff. The co-directors are Sheldon Wynne and Adrian Brown.
On January 13, the new four-part docuseries, which Adrian Brown (The Test Season One) and Sheldon Wynne are co-directing, will be exclusively available on Prime Video in more than 240 nations and territories.
