The clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1, grabbed attention for all the wrong reasons. During the game, Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq’s verbal banter got extended till the match got over, and the LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir intervened trying to save his player, which led to a verbal altercation between Gambhir and Kohli.

The spat between them reached a point where the players from both teams had to intervene to avoid a physical rift. While the social media has been divided into two groups, an old clip of Gautam Gambhir’s heartwarming gesture towards Virat Kohli has been doing rounds. 

In an old clip from the day of India’s second ODI match against Sri Lanka, Gautam Gambhir was awarded the Man of the Match Award for his incredible performance of 150 runs. However, Gambhir stunned everyone by giving away his trophy, prize money, and a mobile phone to Virat Kohli. Not only this, Gambhir even clapped as Kohli received his Man of the Match award.

Notably, in the second ODI match of the series against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens, India had to chase down the target of 316 runs for victory. After two major blows in the form of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar’s dismissal, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli took the field and formed a match-winning partnership of 235 runs. Notably, Virat Kohli scored 107 runs for India, marking his first international century.

Speaking of the LSG vs RCB game, both Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir have been fined 100 per cent of their match fee, whereas, the LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been charged 50 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL code of conduct.
