A-League sideline commentator Michael Zappone was present on the ground during the incident and expressed how he heard a massive crack after the tackle. Zappome also stated that the Melbourne City players rushed to the sideline to call the ambulance. He said, "I was literally meters away from where it happened and I could hear the crack, it was an awful sound.”

After the game, Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart was extremely dejected as he addressed the incident in the press conference. He stated how Juande Prados Lopez and his family have the full support of the club. He said,“Our full support is with Juande and his family. This is something you don’t ever want to witness on a football field. It was hard to see and it was hard to wait that long for him to get removed from the pitch.”

“I’m just devastated for him. We’re all in a bit of shock and it might take a little while for us to get over. When you see one of your mates get seriously injured like that, it’s going to take a little while for the playing group to get over that.
