In an unsuccessful attempt to keep a mark with him from the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians game on Saturday at the Eden Gardens, a home team fan was caught trying to steal a match ball in his pants. In the rain-hit game where Kolkata bludgeoned the Hardik Pandya-led side by 18 runs, a young Kolkata fan tried to escape after putting the match ball in his pants but the local police managed to recover the ball and seized the boy.

In the 60th game of the IPL 2024, Kolkata met their Achilles heels Mumbai Indians in a rain-halted match owing to which, the match was reduced to 16-overs a side game. Batting first, the Shreyas Iyer-led team posted a commanding score of 157/7 in the set overs. Venkatesh Iyer (42), Nitish Rana (33), and Andre Russell (24) contributed significantly to their case.

This happened during West Indies all-rounder Russell’s stroking innings when he smashed the ball out of the park off Piyush Chawla’s delivery in the ninth over of the innings. The ball went straight to the hands of a home team fan and instead of throwing the ball back to the pitch, the fan with Rinku’s jersey tried to steal it as he put the match ball in his pants and tried to escape.

Although, the Kolkata police caught the fan doing this. The policeman straight went towards him and indulged in a little altercation before managing to take the ball and throw it back on the ground. Following that, the police were seen pushing that fan out of the ground for his nonchalant act.
