The Indian Women have overcome the disappointing performance against England in their previous outing in some style. Although Australia had opted to bowl first, they would have expected to restrict the Women in Blue to a lower total than they eventually managed. Solid half-centuries from skipper Mithali Raj and Yastika Bhatia coupled with quickfire knocks from Harmanpreet Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar aided India to 277/7.

During the dying stages of the Indian innings, both Harmanpreet and Vastrakar played some superb strokes. However, one that would be etched in the minds of the fans for a long time would be the six that Vastrakar hit off Megan Schutt in the penultimate over of the innings. Looking to make the best of every scoring opportunity on offer, having kept wickets in tact for the death overs, Vastrakar got a chance when Schutt pitched it in the slot.

Although the bowler would have been hoping to get away with that, the Indian batter made her pay big time, smashing a massive six down the ground. The maximum travelled over long on for a distance of 81 metres and was caught by a fan in the stands.

This particular shot brought the fifty of the partnership. Eventually, the 22-year-old was dismissed in the final ball of the innings but not before the team had put on what could be a challenging chase for the mighty Australians.

Earlier, the Indian Women had succumbed to a defeat by 4 wickets in a low-scoring game. The Mithali Raj-led team had only managed to put on 134 in that game before the English side tasted their first win by reaching their target with 4 wickets in hand.
