After struggling in his first season with the French champions Paris Saint-Germain, star forward Lionel Messi has found his rhythm in the 2022-23 season as the 35-year-old Argentine has scored 12 goals for PSG in all competitions. Recently, Messi also won the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 Goal of the Group stage.

Lionel Messi has scored four goals in his five UCL appearances this season, which is only one short of his previous season's goal tally. On Friday, UCL ranked the best goals of the group stage with Lionel Messi taking the first prize, followed by Erling Haaland's strike against Borussia Dortmund.

The Argentina captain scored a superb curling effort from just outside the box after receiving a pass from Neymar Jr. against Benfica. Messi managed to get two nominations in the top 10 UCL Group Stage goals this season while his teammate Kylian Mbappe also received two nominations in the list. Lionel Messi won the best and the third best goal of the UCL group stage.

FC Porto's Galeno stood fourth while Trent-Alexander Arnold's freekick was placed on the fifth spot.
