Cricket enthusiast would want to believe that the darkest night in a while has gone by and there is new dawn shining upon Indian cricket with Rohit Sharma as the T20I captain and Rahul Dravid as the head coach. While both have assumed the role in the past, albeit in an interim role, the home series against New Zealand will be their first assignment in the leadership position.

Prior to the opening T20I in Jaipur, the team's practice session at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur was the day at the office for both Rohit and Rahul and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made sure they have captured pictures of the two as one was seen training while the other throwing down some balls at the nets to the batters.

"New roles New challenges New beginnings Energies were high yesterday on Day 1 at the office for #TeamIndia T20I captain @ImRo45 & Head Coach Rahul Dravid," the video was captioned.

Ahead of India's opening T20I, KL Rahul, who has been named Rohit's deputy in T20Is spoke about playing under Hitman in the limited-overs series.

"We have all seen him in the IPL and his stats are for everybody to see. He has a great understanding of the game and tactically he is really good and that is why he has been able to achieve what he has as a leader," Rahul said at the pre-match press conference.

"He will bring a lot of calm into the dressing room. The next few weeks will be exciting to know what kind of goals he has for the team and what kind of template we are looking to play," he added.

He also spoke about Rahul Dravid's appointment as the head coach.

"As a coach he has been with the boys around the country and to have him in the set up is a great opportunity to learn from, we all know what a big name he is and the kind of things he has done for our country," KL said about Dravid at the same presser.
