In Match 46 of IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Capitals (DC) are taking on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Batting first, DC have posted a modest total of 162 on the board for RCB to chase. In response, RCB's chase began on a shaky note. By the end of the powerplay, they were struggling at 35/3, having lost key wickets early. Virat Kohli remained at the crease, attempting to stabilize the innings, but the mounting required run rate posed a significant challenge. A significant moment that has garnered attention during this phase is the run-out dismissal of skipper Rajat Patidar.
Patidar walked in at number 4, hoping to build a solid partnership with Virat Kohli after the early fall of wickets. However, his innings was cut short by some fielding brilliance by Karun Nair, who got a run-out. Patidar was at the non-strikers end when Kohli punched the ball towards the leg-side but it was stopped sharply within the circle by Karun Nair. Patidar, who had left his crease in anticipation of taking a single was caught completely off-guard by Nair, who hurled the ball towards the stumps. A direct hit ensured that Patidar was cleaned up before he could get back to safety.
KL Rahul puts up another steady knock as DC post 162 against RCB
DC set a competitive total of 162/8 against RCB. KL Rahul anchored the innings with a steady 41 off 39 balls, while Tristan Stubbs provided a late surge, scoring 34 off 18 deliveries. RCB's bowlers, particularly Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/33) and Josh Hazlewood (2/36), effectively curtailed DC's scoring, especially during the death overs.
RCB are already three wickets down and now need a steady partnership if they want to chase down the target. With Virat Kohli still at the crease, fans will be hopeful that he can guide his team through this tricky chase; something Kohli is highly regarded for!
