Sri Lanka and Afghanistan played a really good game in the first match of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022. After Afghanistan put a hefty 175/6 on the board in their 20 overs, Sri Lanka batters too put a collective effort to belittle the target. Among many handy contributions was Danushka Gunathilaka’s 33 off 20 balls.

The southpaw played some really attractive shots to keep Sri Lanka wide alive in the contest. With things heating up between the two teams, Gunathilaka and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan also got involved in a verbal spat. It started with Gunathilaka playing a reverse sweep off Rashid who was having a rare off day in the field.

As the southpaw swept the spinner away, Khan walked up to the batter and chirped a few words. Gunathilaka also did not hold back and muttered something back. Bhanuka Rajapaksa stepped in the middle immediately to ensure things don’t go south. Rashid and Gunathilaka then seemed to have sorted things as they gave each other a high-five.

However, Rashid was not yet done as he cleaned the batter up and had the last laugh. Khan uprooted Gunathilaka’s stumps to claim his first wicket of the match.
