Afghanistan star player Rashid Khan went off the field against the Netherlands in the fifth over of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 game in Lucknow. After winning the toss, the Dutch decided to bat first and immediately lost their first wicket as Mujeeb Ur Rahman dismissed Wesley Barresi LBW.

Then in his third over, Mujeeb started with a dot ball and then Max ODowd drove the ball towards mid-off and completed a risky single. Fielding this delivery, Rashid Khan quickly stopped the ball and released a zooming throw which nearly ran out ODowd. But after this throw, Khan didn't seem great as he was holding his back in pain.

Moments later as the physios made their way to the middle, Rashid Khan was off the field. If Khan stays out for a long time, it could be a massive worry for Afghanistan as they have a great chance to make a deep run in this tournament.
Further talking about this match, Afghanistan made one change as captain Hashmatullah Shahidi confirmed that Noor Ahmad came in for pacer Naveen-ul-Haq. Speaking at the toss, he said, We wanted to bat, but that doesn't matter."
"We need to play 100 overs of good cricket. It'll spin. We are trying to play good cricket. We are going with four spinners. Noor Ahmad is in for Naveen. A lot of support, in this WC, everyone's praying for us. We are happy for that. The focus will be on today's game."
