Puneri Bappa skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad got dismissed in an unfortunate manner after his bat got stuck in the MPL 2024 match. Bappa clashed against Ratnagiri Jets in the 11th clash of the Maharashtra Premier League 2024. Puneri Bappa who came into the game on the back of one win and two losses chose to bat first and posted a decent total of 144 in 19.5 overs. Their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who came into bat at fourth got out on an unfortunate note.

On the first ball of the 12th over bowled by Yogesh Chavan, Gaikwad attempted to take a double. However, just when the Puneri skipper reached the striker’s end, his bat got stuck on the crease, leading to his dismissal by Nikhil Naik. Gaikwad had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring 29 runs off 15 deliveries.

While the 27-year-old couldn’t come up with a decent score in the game against Ratnagiri Jets, he has been doing wonders in the current edition of the ongoing Maharashtra Premier League (MPL). Before the tournament, Gaikwad led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. The young batter was handed over the captaincy by former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the eve of IPL 2024.

Earlier during his side’s clash against Raigad Royals, Gaikwad smashed three sixes and two fours in a 28-ball-36.
