One of CSK's top performers last season, Sam Curran, is expected to play a significant role if the Men in Yellow are to reach the playoffs and win their fourth title.

Chennai Super Kings are all set to play their first match of the 2021 season later today. While there is plenty of buzz and excitement heading into this contest, Chennai are busy preparing to make a strong comeback after a forgettable season in 2020. One of their top performers last season, Sam Curran, is expected to play a significant role if the Men in Yellow are to reach the playoffs and win their fourth title. Not only is he a key member of the squad but is quite a character to have in the side filled with seniors and veterans.

In a video which is now doing rounds on internet, Curran can be seen imitating Ravindra Jadeja's sword celebration in a intra squad practice match ahead of the tournament. While Jadeja has made it his signature style whenever he achieves a milestone with the bat, Curran seemed to have picked it up from his IPL teammate. The fans of the side would hope that they get to see the sword celebration from both Curran and Jadeja on numerous occasions during the course of the tournament.

Pant set to make IPL captaincy debut

CSK will begin their season against Delhi Capitals on April 10. While the Delhi boys had reached the finals of IPL 2020, they will miss the services of Shreyas Iyer -their regular captain this year after he was ruled out of the entire season. In his absence, it is Rishabh Pant who has been given the responsibility of leading the side and all eyes will be on how he makes his captaincy debut against an experienced campaigner and captain MS Dhoni's side.
