Mumbai player Sarfaraz Khan has been in form of his life in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. The batter has scored runs consistently for his team whenever they have needed it. The right-handed batter stepped up to the occasion in the big final against Madhya Pradesh as well. Khan scored a crucial century to propel his team to a good first-innings total.

It was an emotional moment for Sarfaraz Khan to get runs in the big match and he could not stop tears of happiness rolling down his eyes. After Khan reached the three-figure-mark, the batter got really emotional and broke down and had an expression of satisfaction on his face. To make the moment even more special, Sarfaraz brought out the famous ‘thappi’ celebration of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala who passed a few days ago.

Sarafraz rises to the occasion

Coming to this handy knock from Sarfaraz Khan, it was an inning filled with maturity. Sarfaraz Khan played opposite to his usual style and ensure Mumbai don’t lose wickets in clusters. Coming to bat at No.5, the 24-year-old scored 134 runs in 243 balls and held one end intact. He kept losing partners from the other end but that did not stop him from going big. Eventually, the batter registered his fourth century in this season of the Ranji Trophy.

With the help of this century and some handy contributions from the top order, Mumbai posted 374 in their first innings against Madhya Pradesh. Apart from Sarfaraz Khan, Yashaswi Jaiswal scored a half-century (78 off 163) while captain Prithvi Shaw chipped in with 47 (79). Armaan Jaffer and Hardik Tamore also contributed with their scores of 26 and 24 respectively. Meanwhile, Gaurav Yadav was the biggest trouble for Mumbai in their first innings.

The right-arm quick kept troubling Mumbai batters throughout their innings and scalped four wickets. Yadav got real good support from Anubhav Agarwal who snared three wickets. Saransh Jain and Kumar Kartikeya, meanwhile, claimed two and one wickets, respectively.
