The ongoing tri-series between Pakistan and South Africa witnessed a heated moment between the two players. A video that is going viral now shows Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi having a verbal spat with South Africa's Matthew Breetzke in the third ODI game at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday. The altercation was so heated that teammates had to step in to de-escalate the tension.

During the first innings, Shaheen Afridi and Matthew Breetzke came close to each other angrily and exchanged furious words to each other. This happened during the 28th over when Shaheen collided with Breetzke's as he was taking a quick single. In another incident, the two were seen brushing into each other as Breetzke sought to grab the single. The captains of their respective teams also intervened to settle them down.

Shaheen Afridi's performance is under scanner as he has failed to contribute in recent matches

Shaheen Afridi's performance in recent times has been a big question. Former Pakistan skipper Rashid Latif has major concerns over Shaheen's and Naseem Shah's performance.

“When was the last time Afridi delivered a match-winning performance? Naseem has also not contributed significantly to Pakistan’s success,” the former wicketkeeper-batsman said. “I have concerns over the form of Shaheen, Naseem, and others and I feel they have not performed as expected.”

During the previous match against New Zealand, Afridi registered figures of 3 for 88. Since 2024, the left-arm pacer has taken 19 wickets in eight innings. However, Naseem has failed to collect a single wicket during the last two games this year.

The ongoing ODI tri-series between Pakistan and South Africa is important for both sides, with the victor advancing to the final to compete for the tri-series title. Both sides lost previous encounters against New Zealand. The tri-series will also serve as the practice session for both teams ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.
