The Pakistan Super League 2022 recently kicked off in Karachi and fans have already witnessed some unbelievable action on the field. From Imran Tahir wreaking havoc with his bowling in season opener to Shoaib Malik showing his class and temperament during his side's mammoth run-chase, it's been a perfect start. But what's a T20 league without any controversy?

Well, the first major controversy of PSL 2022 happened on Saturday during the game between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars. On a day dominated by batters, the game was very interestingly poised with defending champions needing 16 runs in 10 balls.

Shaheen Afridi was bowling his last over of the match and all hopes of Qalandars relied on the shoulders of their captain. The left-arm pacer did not disappoint as after getting a good start in the penultimate over, he bowled a scorching yorker to Tim David, which hit the stumps.

But much to everyone's surprise, the 143.8 kph delivery got deflected by the stumps, without dislodging the bails. The LED, installed inside the stumps, lit up which proved that the ball had made contact with it, but surprisingly the bails stayed firm on top.

The pacer was shocked as he looked towards the umpire in disbelief. He even went on to check the bails, in order to investigate what happened. The fact was that batsman had survived and all the bowler could do nothing but accept the reality.

However, it did not take much time for Shaheen Afridi to get justice. On the next ball itself, David mis-timed his shot and the ball went straight into the hands of Abdullah Shafique, standing at long-on. Qalandars had got a crucial wicket and yes, the batsman was eventually walking back to pavilion having actually got out twice on the day.

Shaheen Afridi took one more wicket in that over and eventually finished with figures of 3/40 in 4 overs. However, his brilliance in penultimate over was not enough for his side as Khushdil Shah smashed four consecutive boundaries in final over of Haris Rauf to win the game for Multan Sultans in an incredible finish.
