Bangladesh and Zimbabwe locked horns on Sunday (30 October) at the Gabba in Brisbane. The Shakib Al Hasan-led team batted first and posted a decent 150/7 in their 20 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto did a terrific job to score a half-century and propel the team to a fighting total. The bowlers backed Shanto’s effort as they reduced Zimbabwe to 69/5 with 12 overs.
However, Sean Williams and Ryan Burl stood firm against Bangladeshi bowlers as they stitched a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Williams once again stepped up and scored a half-century. The batter was looking set to help Zimbabwe chase the total but there was a twist in the tale. Shakib Al Hasan spoiled Williams’ and Zimbabwe’s plans as he ran the batter out with a top effort.
In the 19th over of Zimbabwe innings, Shakib showed great agility in the field as he ran out Williams despite falling to the ground and not being in control.

Shakib's efforts paid off as Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by three runs to earn two more points. However, it was not a straightforward win for the Tigers with plenty of drama in the last over. Nevertheless, it was a win eventually and Bangladesh will be pumped up. While Najmul Hossain did the job with the bat for Bangladesh, it was Taskin Ahmed with the ball for the Tigers.
The pacer bagged three wickets in his four overs and only gave away only 19 runs. Mustafizur Rahman too did a terrific job as he bagged two wickets at the expense of 15 runs in his four overs.
