NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is living out his dream of becoming a producer. Performing under the alias DJ Diesel, he performed in front of a monster 115,000 crowd at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago. The size of the crowd and the massive support he received was very well received by the big man, who was emotional at the scale of his achievement. He continues to tour around the world under his moniker of DJ Diesel.

Just this year Shaq has already performed at locations like Ibiza, Croatia, and Mykonos, but undoubtedly his biggest crowd showed up at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago. The festival, which took place in Grant Park in Chicago’s downtown next to scenic Lake Michigan, featured artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Noah Kahan, and Karol G. DJ Diesel at around 6 p.m in the evening. The DJ talked about how unforgettable the experience was.

He said, “Man I’m still tryin to process that @lollapalooza what the hell.. thank u guys for one of the most unforgettable sets of my DJ career. Lollapalooza that was the biggest crowd I’ve ever DJed for.”

DJ Diesel performs electronic music with heavy bass, comparing energy to the NBA

Shaq’s artistic intention with his production is to create heavy-hitting dance beats. While he began his musical career as a rapper decades ago before transitioning into a producer.  Speaking about his desire to make dance music, he said, “The whole genre is energy. I missed that once retiring. Bass music was the vice I was missing and desperately needed.”

The former basketball player stated that he relishes the excitement and energy of performing in front of a live crowd, comparing the atmosphere of an NBA game to a music festival.  He said, “Being at TomorrowWorld brought me back to Game 7 energy. The co2, the crowd of hundreds of thousands of happy people, the energy. It's too similar.”
