After posting a mammoth 373/7 on the board in their 15 overs, India dominated the proceedings with the ball as well. While Mohammed Siraj breathed fire in the first ten overs, scalping two wickets with the new ball, Umran Malik impressed everyone with his fiery second spell. Mohammed Shami also played a crucial role as he broke the partnership between Dhananjaya de Silva and Pathum Nissanka.

Meanwhile, Malik bagged a couple of wickets in his second spell to further push Sri Lanka on the back foot. For his second wicket, Malik dismissed set batter Nissanka. The right-arm quick got the Sri Lankan caught at mid-wicket at the hands of Axar Patel. However, Wanindu Hasaranga walked out to bat and tried to change his team’s fortunes. The Lankan all-rounder smoked Yuzvendra Chahal for a couple of sixes and then a boundary.

But the Indian leggie had the last laugh as he dismissed Hasaranga. Chahal got the Lankan all-rounder caught at deep mid-wicket at the hands of Shreyas Iyer. It could have been a dropped chance had Iyer not been attentive. Two Indian fielders almost collided while taking Hasaranga’s catch.

With the ball going high up in the air, both Iyer and Umran Malik went for the catch. Despite Iyer calling for the catch, Malik kept running toward him. But it was Iyer who pouched the ball. Iyer looked disappointed at Umran for not paying attention as the fielder had his hands on his head.
