On Sunday, February 23, Team India dominated over their arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and went onto register a six wicket win in ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball, picking three wickets in his nine-over spell, star batter Virat Kohli did the talking with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 100 off 111 deliveries, along with crucial contributions from Shreyas Iyer (56) and Shubman Gill (46).
Although, Virat Kohli lifted the Player of the Match for his fighting knock, Shreyas Iyer was seen appearing for the post-match press conference. After several questions, one Pakistani journalist asked Iyer how the victory would have tasted if it came in Pakistan. To this the Indian batter dropped a cheeky reply, while calling it a “sweet" one.
Any victory against Pakistan is sweet: Shreyas Iyer following India’s 6-wicket win
Replying to the journalist’s query, the star batter replied that he has never played in Pakistan and would have not known how does it feel. “I’ve never played a single game in Pakistan so I don’t know about that. But at the end of the day, it was a neutral venue for both teams, it’s a different kind of challenge. We also don’t play much in Dubai but at the end of the day, any victory against Pakistan is sweet. Because it’s always competitive and it’s a different challenge with external pressure from all around. I really enjoyed it, it was my third game against Pakistan. It was fun,” said Iyer in the post-match press conference.

It is to be noted that Pakistan are the official host of ninth edition of Champions Trophy 2025. While the tournament is being hosted across three venues in Pakistan - Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi, India is playing all its matches at a neutral venue in Dubai due to security concerns.
