In what can be said as one of the most bizarre ways to get out, South African batter Ayabulela Gqamane got out in a hilarious way in the CSA Provisional Cup match on Tuesday. Titans were batting against Knights in the first innings of a Pool B fixture, where Titans batter Gqamane, who was playing on 12 runs, was aiming to finish strong for his side in the latter part of the first innings.
The right-handed batsman Gqamane wanted to cut a ball off Migael Pretorius in the penultimate 19th over of the innings but went too much inside the crease and destroyed his off-stump to get hit-wicket out. Titans could only finish at 143/8, which was chased down by Knights later with 6 wickets in hand.

Knights’ bowler Migael Pretorius was bowling his final over, which was Titans second last over of their batting. He bowled the 4th ball slow, which Gqamane wanted to cut but couldn’t as he got out hit wicket. Just after the incident took place, the commentators on air couldn’t hold themselves to get shocked by the way the batsman got out. A commentator said on air, “Oh! I tell you what it was a slower ball and he hit his own stumps out of the ground. He is gone deep into his crease and destroyed the timber”.
Another commentator said, “I don’t think I have ever seen that before, that’s unique….he is invented a new way to get out”. Pretorius was the pick for the Knights bowlers as he picked 3 wickets including Gqamane’s wicket in his 4 overs and gave 21 runs. In reply, Knights’ batsman Rilee Rossouw lead the charge for his team’s batting as he scored 73* off 51 deliveries. Knights won the match with 5 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand. Knights are at the second position on the points table after winning 1 out of 1, while Titans are at third after losing 1 out of 1 match in Pool B.

Yuvraj Singh posts video of the incident
Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was among many others, whose attention was surprised by the bizarre hit wicket incident. Yuvraj posted the video of the wicket on his Instagram account and captioned, “I remember hitting the bails once with my bats! But this one is surely next level”. Notably, Yuvraj hit the bails of his stump in a 2016 IPL match against Mumbai Indians when he was playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Yuvraj got out on 39 off 23 off Mitchell McClenaghan’s delivery.
