Liga Portugal club Sporting CP recently unveiled a special third kit in honour of Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo. In a video posted by them on social media, Ronaldo’s son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr was seen donning the special number seven jersey by Sporting CP, showing an emotional connection of the star footballer with the club. 

Notably, Cristiano Ronaldo started his football career with Sporting CP, (known as Sporting Lisbon at that time) in 2002. After one year with Sporting CP, Ronaldo was transferred to Manchester United for €19 million in 2003. He made 25 appearances for Sporting CP and scored three goals during his time with the club.

Sporting CP shared several posts on social media to honour Cristiano Ronaldo and unveil a new number seven special third jersey in his tribute. They also featured Ronaldo’s son who donned the new jersey. It has been over 20 years since Ronaldo left Sporting CP. After that, Ronaldo has played for different clubs including the likes of Manchester United, Juventus, Real Madrid, and currently plays for Al-Nassr in teh Saudi Pro League. 

“The seven. Lucky number? Only we know that luck is dressed in effort, dedication and devotion. There are numbers that leave a legacy because, behind them, there are people who build it day after day. We brought the number 7, in an unprecedented and proud way, to the front of our new jersey, in golden tones, in homage to Cristiano Ronaldo and his five Ballons d'Or,” Sporting CP said in an statement as quoted in Sportkeeda.

“And we associate ourselves with the person who, better than anyone, could wear this jersey: Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. So, we invite you to wear the number 7 jersey, the third kit of the 2024/2025 season. The next 7 could be you,” the club further stated.
