With the fielding standards in cricket reaching a completely different level, outrageous catches in the outfield have become the new normal. Videos of fielders grabbing stunners while standing in the outfield are shared every second day. But what is trending currently is certainly a never-seen-before event. A video of a substitute fielder grabbing a one-handed stunner even with jeans on is going viral on social media.
In the video, the fielder is seen making a full-stretched dive and grabbing the ball with his left hand. After the batter plays a convincing lofted shot towards the deep extra cover region, it seems the ball will land safely. However, the substitute fielder comes running and makes an outrageous effort to stun the batter as well as his teammates.
The best thing about the catch was that the fielder was not wearing trousers but had his denim on. With the fielder grabbing one of the best catches in village cricket, the teammates, as well as the crowd, could not believe what they have just seen. The other fielders had their hands on their mouth in awe of the catch.
This video also reminded people of the one-handed grab from Evin Lewis in IPL 2022. Notably, while fielding in the deep extra cover region for Lucknow Super Giants against Kolkata Knight Riders, Lewis had held onto a stunning catch to dismiss Rinku Singh. This catch eventually changed the course of the match as Lucknow went on to win the game. But this village cricketer pipped Lewis in overcoming an extra obstacle that was taking a blinder with his jeans on.
