While Sunil Narine has already proved his supremacy with the bowl, there is less doubt on his capacity to bat as well. Time and again, he has proved his skills with the bat while coming top of the order in the Indian Premier League for the Kolkata franchise. On Wednesday, he was yet again in a similar mood, and with his lethal batting, he joined the elite list of batters to score the fastest fifties in T20 cricket.

During the second qualifier game between Comilla Victorians and Chattogram Challengers at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Narine smashed a 13-ball fifty which comprises 5 fours and 6 sixes. While chasing the target of 149, Victorians had a troublesome start as their opener Liton Das got dismissed on duck by Shoriful Islam. However, little anyone knew about Narine's plan. Wasting no time, Narine geared up his innings from the second ball he faced and went for a maximum at long-off. The remaining two balls of the 1st over had a similar fate, as Narine scored two consecutive boundaries.

Narine scorecard read, Dot, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6, 4, 6, Dot, 4, 6, 1, 6. The all-rounder ensured victory for his team and was dismissed on the 16th ball of his innings, having scored 57-runs.

Speaking of his innings, Narine said that he was happy to open the innings and was extremely happy when he got to know about it. "I was delighted, especially with just two fielders outside the ring. It was a good wicket to bat on, not much spin, especially with the new ball, came on nicely."

Narine will be playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after being retained by the franchise.
