The Indian cricket team is currently preparing to host South Africa for a three-match T20I series starting on 28 September. The convoy reached Thiruvananthapuram on Monday for the first match scheduled to take place at the Greenfield International Stadium in the city. As the team bus passed through the streets of Trivandrum, fans started the chants of Sanju…Sanju indicating that the local boy was missing from the convoy.

As the chants kept getting louder, India batter Suryakumar Yadav took out his phone and showed Samson’s picture to the crowd to calm them down. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

India to play three T20Is before departing for Australia

The Men in Blue are scheduled to play three T20Is against South Africa before the team boards the flight to Australia for the T20 World Cup Down Under. The Rohit Sharma-led team recently defeated Australia 2-1 in the three-match T20I series. It’s worth mentioning that Sanju Samson’s fans were quite upset about the wicketkeeper batter not getting a place in either of the three squads (for the Australia series, for South Africa series, and for T20 World Cup) and had plans to stage a protest as well.

It remains to be seen if Samson’s fans express their displeasure through a protest or will they be welcoming to the rest of the Indian team when the first T20I takes place on Wednesday.
