Suryakumar Yadav, the newly appointed Indian T20I captain, took to his official Instagram account to post about the latest training session ahead of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, on Sunday, July 21. In the middle of going through the paces on the field, the 33-year-old spoke about how hard work is far from easy, but it’s worth it.
Notably, Suryakumar Yadav will be taking over the T20I captaincy from Rohit Sharma, who retired from the format after leading India to their first ICC trophy in 11 years. The T20 World Cup 2024 win last month was quite a big triumph for the new captain Suryakumar Yadav to back up during his leadership tenure.
“Will it be easy? No. Worth it? Absolutely: Suryakumar Yadav
In the short clip posted on his Instagram, Suryakumar Yadav was seen talking about how he is going to approach the fitness session in front of his friends in a unique manner. Following this, he indulged in intense sprints alongside his friends before remarking, “Will it be easy? No. Worth it? Absolutely.”
Notably, Suryakumar Yadav has already captained the Indian cricket team temporarily for seven matches in 2023. He went on to win five and lost two of those matches, including a series win at home against Australia by 4-1.
Here is the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, starting from July 27:
